With his new book Gebt mir etwas Zeit (Give me some time), he gives us a deep insight into the eventful history of his ancestors. Touchingly and with an incomparable sense of humor, he tells of his childhood in the seventies and the heyday of TV entertainment, of love, tolerance and providence. He takes us back to the beginnings of his television career and to the early days of the Kerkelings, to the flourishing Amsterdam of the 17th century. He interweaves memories with history and genealogy with relish. And finally unravels the mystery that surrounded his beloved grandmother Bertha throughout her life.
