„Gleichzeit” – Briefe zwischen Israel und Europa

Immediately after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, the author Sasha Marianna Salzmann (including Im Menschen muss alles herrlich sein, Suhrkamp, 2021) and the author and musician Ofer Waldman, who came to Berlin in 1999 as a member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra founded by Daniel Baren-boim and Edward Said, begin a correspondence about a shaken world. What is left of old certainties? What endures in the maelstrom of opinions and positions? The result is a dialog that increasingly becomes a touching document of a friendship: I see you, say these letters, I can't do anything, but I'm there.

With Gleichzeit, Sasha Marianna Salzmann and Ofer Waldman have created a poetic and personal document of our times and talk about their friendship between Israel and Europe.

The event is a cooperation between the Literaturhaus München and the Munich Documentation Center for the History of National Socialism as part of the series "Understanding Our Time".
