Great Balls of Fire! - Die Jerry Lee Lewis Story

A musical one-man show by and with Justin Hibbeler

The blazing stories of sin and redemption come from radio and the Bible: they strike sparks in commanding sermons and enticing pop. A prodigal son, Jerry Lee Lewis, storms from the depths of the provinces into the national spotlight, secretly marries his 13-year-old cousin, who will be only one of his seven wives, and is damned. Years later, a night watchman at Graceland - Elvis Presley's estate - observes a '76 Lincoln Continental snarling its way through the gravel of the driveway and ramming the gate after a final acceleration. The driver shouts in an equally resounding chrome voice: "I want to see Elvis! Just tell him, the killer's here."

Justin Hibbeler plays, sings and tells the story of Jerry Lee Lewis, which is also the story of rock 'n' roll itself and of how Lewis brought black and white music together. Along the pounding and languorous songs, this evening goes on a journey through murky swimming pools, sweaty dance halls and the British tabloids. The end is near, hell is hot.

Great Balls of Fire - The Jerry Lee Lewis Story, by our new ensemble member Justin Hibbeler, is a takeover of the Landestheater Tübingen. It premiered there in 2023. We have now brought the
production to Kassel, where it will be shown alternately at the Theaterstübchen and the TiF.
