GRUNGE’S NOT DEAD #3 w/ VELORISE, NILO CROW und THEE SHIRTS

VELORISE:

VELORISE emerged in 2024 from "Moehlzart", a band that Gilles Möhl originally brought to life with two English friends from Southampton. After his return to Munich, he found a local drummer and bassist: Quirin Reichl and Alex Mutschke. The three played five gigs in and around Munich in 2023 and then decided in the fall to write their own songs and give themselves a new band name together. Thus VELORISE was born. In addition to the new music, old Moehlzart songs continue to be performed. The power trio has retained its original soul, but the now collaborative approach has also added some new facets: with new stage outfits and energetic performances, the three bring loud sounds wherever they are needed. Stylistically, the band moves between hard breakdowns and balladesque melodies. You can hear that the members like "Porcupine Tree", "Dream Theater", "Red Hot Chili Peppers", "Korn", "Green Day", "Billy Talent", but also electronic music. "Alternative fusion" would probably be a good description. All in all, it's music for cuddly headbanging. (Source: Booking agency)

NILO CROW:

NILO CROW (pronounced "Nailo") is a neologism made up of "scarecrow" and "nihilism". The Munich-based musician and songwriter Jonas Schlemme is behind the pseudonym. In 2019, Crow released his debut album"Lonesome in Denial" with his uncle Matthias Sauthoff on drums. Since then, Kathi Huster on bass and Thomas Schneider on guitar have joined his band. With new reinforcements in tow, the long-awaited follow-up"Why Do You Hate Me With Your Love?" was finally released in 2023 after a delay due to the pandemic. For the past year, exiled Istanbul native Ogulcan Cirpan has also been on drums, after Matthias retired to a well-deserved retirement. The mostly rather dark sound draws on a wide variety of sources, from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to Dax Riggs, Nirvana and John Frusciante. The lyrics mostly deal with classic grunge themes such as love that is doomed to fail, the feeling of being an outcast or other dark sides of a society trimmed for consumption that eats people like commodities. THEE SHIRTS:

THEE SHIRTS is a surf punk band from Munich that sounds like an ass bomb from a 10 in the middle of summer, a round of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and the 18+ section of a 90s video store - so not for wimps! The concerts of the three musicians are above all loud and a bit chaotic. With their guitar-heavy bubblegrunge, they transform every location into a steaming laundry room and between the mostly humorous lyrics there is sometimes even a bit of social criticism. Blues elements, driving rhythms and raw guitar riffs create an uncompromising sound and an atmosphere that invites you to dance. (Source: Booking agency)
