habitat. Künstlerische Perspektiven auf Leben und Raum

In the organizer's words:

An aesthetic project of the Sculpture and Photography in Artistic Practice departments at the Institute of Art and Visual Culture, Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg in cooperation with the Landesmuseum Natur und Mensch Oldenburg.

In the habitats of this earth, living beings do not exist in isolation from one another, but in a complex interplay. However, humans directly dominate many ecosystems, and no habitat is free from human influence. From a greater distance, it becomes clear to what extent we humans use and change our environment to meet our needs.

The diversity and complexity of human habitats is explored in 34 positions. Based on the media of sculpture and photography, the artistic works approach this theme and pose questions about our own relationship to nature and the human environment. It is about social structures in the family and urban society, about the fragility of the concept of home, and the body itself is also viewed artistically as a habitat.

The exhibition invites visitors to explore the question of how we as humans are connected to our environment and what role we play in the creation and destruction of our habitats.
