How do we relate to the objects around us and who is actually attached to whom?

Humans are used to seeing themselves as authorities on earth - but this perspective is becoming increasingly shaky. In their latest work, Compagnie Hanschitz & Beierer negotiate the problematic relationship between humans and objects in the post-modern era. Three performers and a Cyr Wheel use acrobatics and dance to embark on a journey between control, dependency and sensual utopia. Objects weave our reality - are we ready to feel?

Sandra Hanschitz and Joël Beierer work together on interdisciplinary dance and circus productions that are characterized by their clear aesthetic language and immersive quality of experience - with the Cyr Wheel at the center of their work. They have been touring Central Europe together since 2021 with their project "IIIII - about the art of letting go" and had the opportunity to present their work in 2024 as part of the German Showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Hanschitz & Beierer create approachable and reflective works in the field of tension between calm and loss of control: the personal becomes collective, philosophy comes alive and the conceptual can be physically experienced.

"still.dependent" celebrates its German premiere on 15.11.24 as part of the 4th edition of the nationwide festival "Zeit für Zirkus". Zeit für Zirkus is the German counterpart to the French La Nuit du Cirque, an international event that aims to give contemporary circus greater visibility in the cultural scene and beyond. On the weekend of November 15-17, contemporary circus will be presented at various venues throughout Germany and internationally.

"still.dependent" is also part of the "DANCE DATES", a series of events organized by Tanznetz Frei- burg and E-Werk Freiburg. This series is a kind of "dating platform" for contemporary dance pieces. One Freiburg and one supra-regional production meet each other, accompanied by a changing supporting program such as public workshops and discussion formats for all interested parties.
