Since 2000, the "Happy Birthday Handel" association has been celebrating Handel's birthday in his native city of Halle an der Saale. Every year, 450 singers from near and far come together to rehearse the "Messiah", perform the oratorio in concert and enjoy a rich supporting program. The historic city of Halle is the perfect setting for this. It offers highlights for Handel fans such as the Handel House, the Marktkirche and much more. Under the motto "Hallelujah Handel", a program of popular Handel pieces was also performed for the first time at the end of September 2018.

Somewhat belatedly in 2025, the traditional performance of Handel's oratorio Messiah with a large choir will also take place again in the Händelhalle in Halle (Saale). Proinnsías O'Duinn will be the musical director. The orchestra is the Staatskapelle Halle. The soloists are Vanessa Waldhart (soprano), Franziska Rabl (alto), Georg Poplutz (tenor) and Lisandro Abadie (bass).
