His debut album already made him the first drill artist from the UK to secure the #1 spot in the album charts in his home country - now Headie One ("Ain't It Different", "Only You Freestyle") is opening the next chapter: his second album "The Last One" is clearly one of the most important releases in the rap/trap/drill summer of 2024. As part of the accompanying "Planet One" tour, the 30-year-old will also be stopping off in Germany in early 2025 when he presents the latest tracks such as "Cry No More", "I Still Know Better" & Co. live in Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin.

Strictly speaking, "The Last One" is the third and final part of the mixtape series ("The One", "The One Two") that he released before his breakthrough with "18HUNNA". Over the course of 20 tracks, the drill MC, who grew up in Tottenham, looks back on the stages of his life to date, which also led him to prison several times. At the same time, the Londoner develops a kind of manifesto for himself - and also breaks new musical ground: completely autobiographical, his flow is clearly at the center of the productions, which deliberately go beyond classic drill sounds time and again.

Although the conflicts of his early years are a theme on "The Last One" , Headie One and Aitch deliver a straightforward summer hit ("Tipsy"). "I wanted to pick up on my musical beginnings, when everything was still about melodies," he comments on the stylistic openness of the second album, which can already be guessed when you consider that Sampha and Skrillex were allowed to bring their respective sounds into play. "And I just wanted to get the truth out," says the rapper, who was also in the studio with Stormzy, Potter Payper and Fridayy.

Having grown up with a wide range of influences from the UK (including Max B, Skrapz, Nines) and the States (including Future, Post Malone), Irving Ampofo Adjei aka Headie One already made a massive mark in 2019 when "18HUNNA" (feat. Dave) put him on the drill map. The "Only You Freestyle" recorded with Drake from the 2020 debut album "Edna" made even more people sit up and take notice, which is why the new "Breakout Star of Drill"(The Times) eventually made it to #1 in the UK album charts. Hardly surprising, given that the mixtape "Music x Road" had already cracked the top 5 thanks to "Back To Basics" & Co. He and K-Trap only picked up on the stylistic openness of the mixtape "GANG" (2020), recordedwith Fred Again, last year with "Strength To Strength" (2023), which earned the pair a BRIT nomination as well as #4 in the UK. In this country, the Brit with Ghanaian roots also landed a massive hit with "Cloud" alongside Luciano.
