HEALING ACROSS IMAGINATIVE SPACES

In the organizer's words:

What can art do today to enable us to look back critically on history and at the same time imagine a better future? Ringlokschuppen Ruhr and co-curator Nora Amin attempt to explore this question in the conference HEALING ACROSS IMAGINATIVE SPACES. With the help of various performative art forms, lectures and rituals, we will take a fresh look at the terms and discourses surrounding "colonial heritage", "geopolitical trauma" and "socio-economic divisions".

From November 8 to 10, the Theater Ringlokschuppen Ruhr will become a space for shared imagination, discussions, workshops and performances. In these formats, we want to experiment with aesthetic and poetic possibilities. We reconstruct communities that were critical and revolutionary without losing sight of the necessity of transformation for the future.

HEALING ACROSS IMAGINATIVE SPACES takes the memory of the Berlin Conference of 1884 as its starting point. At this conference, the colonial powers violently divided the continent of Africa among themselves. Nevertheless, it is based on hope for the future. The conference is an artistic gathering, a ritual where the power of art and dreaming can bring reality forward and create a possible moment of togetherness, reparation and empowerment.

Join us during these three days for a collective and critical reconstruction of the past, a powerful gathering in the present and a positive imaginative projection of the future.
