For Henry, a certain emotional vulnerability has always been inextricably linked to his art. In fact, he started playing guitar on the advice of his mother, a psychotherapist who encouraged her three children to find an outlet to channel their feelings. By the age of 12, he was spending every break in the music room at school giving himself piano lessons or writing song sketches. In the meantime, he built up a following at home on YouTube and Instagram by covering songs by his musical idols, including Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran - and later gaining their approval in return. Released in July 2022, the soulful bedroom-pop of 'you were there for me' instantly established the Guildford-born artist as a towering talent, able to appeal to listeners around the world with his unabashedly emotional songwriting. Just a few months later, the song has more than 40 million streams on Spotify. Any fears that "you were there for me" might be an impossible number are soon dispelled by "drunk text". The rousing second single, which Henry wrote in the summer of 2022 with Josh McClelland (SEVENTEEN, Cheat Codes), underpins feelings of longing with a waltz melody that is so timeless that it is sure to resonate even more than its predecessor.
