Herr Oluf und das Meer

A song recital with ballads by Carl Loewe and texts by Heinrich Heine & Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

arl Loewe, who played an important role in the 19th century as cantor and organist of St. Jacob's Church in Szczecin, was inspired by the vastness and mysticism of the sea on his travels. It runs through many of his compositions as a central motif and characterizes this evening, which thematizes the connection between man and nature on several levels.

The evening's ensemble consists of bass-baritone Felix Rathgeber, singer in the WDR Rundfunkchor, pianist and professor at the Mainz University of Music Christian Rohrbach and presenter and speaker at Bayerischer Rundfunk, Clemens Nicol. Together they weave the art forms of song and recitation into an impressive synthesis of the arts. The evening will also be complemented by photographs by renowned photographer and professor Nina Röder, whose images form the visual framework of the program and allow the audience to immerse themselves visually in the subject matter.
