The longing for a better world - it has permeated people's thoughts, feelings, beliefs and creations since the earliest times. The chamber choir Concerto vocale at the University of Tübingen, now one of the best choirs in the Tübingen-Stuttgart region, has made it the theme of its new program with the support of the Protestant student community. The ensemble, under the proven direction of Peter Unterberg, who comes from Stuttgart and also studied there with Dieter Kurz, conveys the longing of different centuries for refuge in God, love, night and death with their usual stylistic confidence. Whether in the Renaissance and Baroque psalms by Schütz, Tallis and Viner, in Mendelssohn's eight-part motets, in the Abendlied or in the Romantic secular songs by Rheinberger and Brahms: with its precise yet sensitive a cappella sound, the choir immerses the listener in masterful settings of the human longing for the forest night, cradle rest and ruler of the world.
