In the organizer's words:

Active since the 1990s, the HMT Big Band, under the direction of flautist and composer Rolf von Nordenskjöld, has long since become a permanent institution on the Leipzig jazz scene. Due to the constant influx of new members, both the line-up and the ensemble's program are subject to a continuous process of change.

And so the current repertoire of the HMT Big Band includes compositions and arrangements by the students themselves alongside pieces by greats such as Bill Holman, Rob McConnell and John Clayton.
