Whereas in Shakespeare's play, hostile family homes stood in the way of the lovers, today it is rigid ideologies and their prejudices. Romeo and Juliet become Robin Hood and Wonder Woman. At least that's how Steve and Kate meet at a costume party. He is a staunch feminist, she is more of a macho type. So after they get down on one knee, it's not the engagement ring that follows, but a sincere apology for the patriarchy. If this is not contradictory enough, an emancipated political activist also meets a Jewish-religious conservative - the parents of the lovers. If one were to assume that their difference is insurmountable, the plus and minus poles would only attract each other all the more. However, the wedding of one's own children is perhaps not the most suitable moment for this. And to make the whole love spectacle even more complex, the ex-girlfriends get involved. And only two players embody all of this.

In her comedy, London-based playwright Samantha Ellis takes gender clichés and role models to such an ingenious extreme that only an escape from the box can lead to a happy ending. Following a successful premiere at London's Off-West End, the ensemble of Theater Osnabrück is now also performing this charming comedy.
