Fresh Blood Award

In the FRESH BLOOD section, Fantasy Filmfest presents first or second films by as yet unknown directors and lets viewers vote for their favorites in an audience competition. The winning film will receive the audience award - the FRESH BLOOD AWARD. Voting takes place at every FRESH BLOOD screening with voting cards that are distributed on site. On the voting cards, 1-5 stars can be awarded for each film. The winner will be announced at the end of the festival.

Alex's excitement and nervousness are written all over his face: The boss has invited him on a hunting trip! Together with another experienced hunter, the three of them have to shoot, skin and gut ducks and deer and enjoy a glass (or several glasses) of red wine. Newcomer Alex is always irritated by the idiosyncratic rules and customs of his old companions. And he senses that something is wrong with them ... The atmosphere is becoming increasingly tense. At the same time, it becomes increasingly difficult to get new prey in front of the barrel.

What is fun? What is serious? What is imaginary, what is a real threat? The boundaries are fluid in this survival trip of a particularly "manly" kind. And it's not just Alex who finds the profound experiences upsetting. The naturalistic hunting scenes are particularly tough fare. An impressive and unconventional directorial debut by Sarah Gyllenstierna.
