Getting to the root and ripping it out, taking a stand and questioning the status quo. We are familiar with radical measures, radical groups, radical art. We encounter radicalism in large letters, loud protests and superlatives - unexpected, intimidating and uncomfortable. As an uncompromising stance, radicalism wants to demand or prevent, and thus forces the environment to react: all the way or not at all! But how long can this tension be maintained? What kind of stamina does radicalism have? When and how is it stopped? And when are you radical, or why not?
Norwegian choreographer Hege Hagenruud combines interview sequences and documentary material with alienation techniques such as lip-synching and strict movement patterns. This creates a tension between concrete references to the reality of our lives and gestures that are open to interpretation. The dancers circle around a feeling on the border between "too far" and "not yet far enough", which can both mobilize and paralyze us in social interaction, often leaving us angry or speechless.
