In memory of David Lynch: The Elephant Man - OmU

John Merrick has been terribly disfigured since childhood. He is paraded at fairs as an "elephant man" and tortured by his sadistic "owner" until the doctor Frederick Treves finally discovers him and offers him help. John Merrick is finally to live like a human being. David Lynch's second feature film is a powerful plea for humanity and dignity. The masterful black and white photography by cinematographer Freddie Francis and the remarkable acting by John Hurt and Anthony Hopkins have turned the film into a celebrated classic.
