Indigenes Kino aus Kolumbien

An event in cooperation with the ila and the Student Council for Regional Studies Latin America, University of Cologne.

"The Last Commander of the Quintines" and "The Right to Exist" deal with the recent history of the indigenous movement of the Cauca in southwest Colombia.
In them, indigenous director Eliseth Peña sheds light on two important phases of the communities' ongoing struggle for their rights and against their exploitation: the trial of Latin America's first indigenous guerrilla, told from the perspective of their last commander, the director's father. The film also tells of the participation of the indigenous communities in Colombia's new constitution, in which their rights were comprehensively enshrined for the first time in 1991.

Both films have been invited to various festivals in Latin America

Ambas películas recibieron invitaciones a una variedad de festivales en Latinoamérica.
