The married couple Pascaline and Lionel Hutner are desperate: Their son Jacob is Céline Dion. When he heard a song by the Canadian superstar for the first time at the age of five, his transformation began. Now he/she has mastered her repertoire perfectly and is planning the "Road to South" world tour with new songs. Jacob is to be "cured" at the therapeutic facility of a psychiatrist who, however, is a little too unconventional in the eyes of the parents themselves. But to their even greater despair, the therapist not only accepts Jacob's self-image, but also advises his parents to make peace with his identity. Especially as Jacob-Céline is doing well, having made friends for the first time in her life and found a soulmate in the young Philippe, who, as a white man, is convinced he is black.

Yasmina Reza, celebrated author of much-performed social comedies such as "God of Carnage" and "Three Times Life" and bestselling novels - most recently "Serge " - has written a new, fairytale-like, melancholy play about the profound problems of understanding between the generations, which celebrates the freedom and self-determination of the individual as the highest principle.

Philipp Stölzl, who produced "The Legacy" by Matthew Lopez at the Residenztheater last season (invited to the 2023 Berlin Theatertreffen), is Yasmina Reza's director of choice for the world premiere.
