Beethoven Cycle III

It all started by chance. In 2018, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields wanted to perform all five of Ludwig van Beethoven's piano concertos in Berlin with piano legend Murray Perahia. Perahia fell ill and Jan Lisiecki stepped in. And the spark ignited: The unexpected collaboration delighted not only those involved, but also the Berlin audience - and the listeners of the spontaneously produced live album of the concerts. No wonder that the plan to repeat the joint Beethoven tour - and with more preparation time - soon emerged. Now the time has come: Jan Lisiecki and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields will perform all of Beethoven's piano concertos on three evenings at the WDK. In addition to the majestic Fifth Piano Concerto, the rarely performed Triple Concerto by the Bonn master will be performed at the end. Concertmaster Tomo Keller will take on the role of solo violin, while Daniel Müller-Schott will provide beautiful sounds in the lower registers on the cello.
