MENGAMO celebrates the untamed. Rhythmically complex, willing to take risks, always interacting and with the same love for opulent sound as for catchy songs, the three sought-after musicians of the Cologne scene captivate the audience.
The trio, founded in 2012 and formed not least through performances at Cologne's legendary "Stecken", impresses with a symbiotic interplay that has grown over the years. Electronic soundscapes, progressive rock borrowings, song-like and energetic free fusion playing come together to create an unmistakable, immersive world of sound.
Following the acclaimed debut album "The One", Mengamo's latest release "Chat Bizarre" catapults the classic organ trio into the present with exclusively original compositions and a mature band sound.
Recorded in the style of a live concert with almost exclusively central stereo miking, "Chat Bizarre" contains, among other things, sound colors as wide as a movie screen as on "Santa Cruz", odes to George Harrison ("Song for George") or distortion pedals ("Full Throttle") and rousing riffs.
