This year's Jazz Night is all about "Latin Jazz", because in addition to the Munich University Jazz Orchestra, big band and flagship of the Jazz Institute under the direction of Prof. Claus Reichstaller, two international star guests will be performing this year: the singer Yumarya (Curaçao) and the percussionist Jerome Goldschmidt (New York).

Yumarya, who comes from the Caribbean island of Curaçao, is a renowned singer in various band projects, such as Salsafuerte, and travels internationally, combining the music of her homeland with jazz styles. Percussionist Jerome Goldschmidt taught at the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts in New York City and has already worked with legendary Latin musicians such as Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria and Oscar Hernandez. Pulsating rhythms, fiery Latin sounds and sophisticated jazz improvisations: The idea for this explosive mixture was born in the melting pot of New York, where Afro-Cuban sounds and jazz fuse organically to create a unique style.

In addition, various top-class student ensembles and teachers from the Jazz Institute will once again be performing works and original compositions in a wide range of styles. Prof. Claus Reichstaller will once again be the overall artistic director this year.
