JOANA MALLWITZ - MOMENTUM paints an up-close and undisguised picture of the thoroughbred musician. Mallwitz can be experienced as a perfectionist worker, music mediator and energetic orchestra leader.

Joana Mallwitz is a conductor. A profession that is still considered by many to be a male domain. Discovered early on as an exceptional talent, she was the youngest female general music director in Europe before becoming chief conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, one of the great traditional orchestras in Germany, in August 2023. The film accompanies her for two years on her way there. During this time, Mallwitz makes several debuts in Munich, Paris, Salzburg and Amsterdam. While the decisive phase of her international career begins, she and her husband have to reorganize themselves after the birth of their first child.

Joana Mallwitz has been Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin since August 2023, making her the first woman to head one of Berlin's major orchestras. Since her debut at the 2020 Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic, she has been one of the most sought-after orchestra conductors of her generation internationally.
