Josep Caballero García: Disparade Families

With their new piece DISPARADE FAMILIES, Josep Caballero García & Team go to the place where most attributions and imprints probably take place: the family system. The choreographic concert by this choreographer, who has been producing at Kampnagel for over 12 years, tells, sings and dances alternative concepts in order to assert community and bonding practices that deviate from the norm.

DISPARADE FAMILIES is a homage to self-chosen detachment from patriarchal family experiences: It invites a joyful celebration of ruptures, singing and dancing to the replanting of overgrown roots. It welcomes the ghosts of voguing from 1970s Harlem, as well as Romeo and Juliet, who have since found new families, and sings for those who are leaving and for those who are just arriving.
