KAKUHAN: Koshiro Hino & Yuki Nakagawa

KAKUHAN is a duo project founded by Koshiro Hino and Yuki Nakagawa in 2022.

Hino is known for his solo project as YPY and as a leading member of the five-member band goat (JP), as well as for managing the record labels NAKID and Birdfriend.
Nakagawa, on the other hand, has built his career and reputation through improvisational performances, stage music and leading several bands. He has participated in almost all of Hino's major compositions, such as his theater piece GEIST (2018-), Virginal Variations (2016), and the piece INTERDIFFUSION A tribute to Yoshi Wada (2021) co-composed by Hino and FUJI|||||||||||TA, etc.

While the two have collaborated with each other on many occasions, KAKUHAN was born out of a spontaneous duo recording with no particular intentions.

The word KAKUHAN means "stirring" of different elements in Japanese. It perfectly describes the duo's musical approach, which blurs the boundaries between "electronic/string instruments", "contemporary/club music", "traditional/contemporary", "physical/metaphysical" and "composition/improvisation".

The merging of electronic and acoustic instruments, the digitization of instrumental sounds and the reinterpretation of digitized sounds have been attempted many times in the field of experimental and contemporary music, but what we hear from KAKUHAN has the potential to change these boundaries to an unprecedented degree.

In 2022, their debut album Metal Zone was released on NAKID
