Karpatt + Support: Me & Ms. Jacobs

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

KARPATT

The singing poet Fred, flying double bassist Hervé and virtuoso banjo/solo guitarist Gaétan have released many successful albums since 2002, but it is the live performances that have achieved absolute cult status and established an international fan base. The aftermath of a Karpatt concert is at least two weeks of euphoria and lasting inner swing. Communication with the audience is only partly in French, otherwise in English, German onomatopoeic and global non-verbal for the fun. In 2008, they toured Germany for the first time and it was an immediate success.

As representatives of the nouvelle chanson française, the band has continuously developed musically since its beginnings, from their countless appearances in bars and cafés in the Seine metropolis to the legendary Parisian "L'Olympia", from festival stages to celebrated international appearances. The basic palette of their music includes valse musette, rumba and virtuoso gypsy jazz, enhanced by Latin American rhythms that they brought back with them from their recent tours to Central America. It is therefore only logical that Karpatt are currently accompanied at their gigs by multi-percussionist Jessy, whose rhythms communicate directly with the audience's motoric nerve pathways.

The melancholy and touching Karpatt chansons are a poetic treasure trove for those who know the language, and are often played at the end of the concerts, taking even the non-francophone audience on a journey.

Not to be missed!

Me & Ms Jacobs
stand for an honest, handmade and politically charged sound, inspired by past decades such as the 60s and 70s.

The band's sound aesthetic fuses old rock, pop and world music elements into a new genre: Eclectic Soul. The band's live shows are just as diverse and colorful as their songs and the musicians themselves.

The band is led by artist, songwriter and singer Ms. Lina Jacobs, whose unique smoky, warm timbre is a common thread running through the band's sound and whose biographical lyrics convey the band's honest message.

The band members are between 21 and 29 years old, with roots all over the world, but they came together in Hanover (DE), where they live in the trendy districts of Linden and Nordstadt. They describe their work as a "healthy mix of melancholy and rock 'n' roll".

From simple piano or guitar accompaniment to a 5-piece band line-up to a 9-piece band with horn section, a mood is guaranteed that not only moves the body but also the soul.

The debut album "On The Run" (flowfish.records/Broken Silence) was released on 24.02.2023 and has been reviewed by BBC1, KissFMuk, DeutschlandfunkKultur, HR2 and many other media and songs have been included in playlists. The band played over 30 concerts across Germany in summer 2023 and supported soul legends such as Curtis Harding and Flo Mega & THE RUFFCATS.
