Katharina Immekus. Gran Palazzo

In the organizer's words:

For the first time, the MdbK is dedicating a solo exhibition to the work of Katharina Immekus (*1970). Through her many years of work in Leipzig, the artist represents an important solitary artistic position in the city.

Immekus shows motifs from her everyday life in paintings and linocuts. These are places that she has seen directly, captured on camera or discovered on postcards and in books. She processes familiar things that are often overlooked because they are so close and unspectacular: street corners, bushes, houses, trees, the moon, a street lamp, her way to university or giraffes in the zoo. Katharina Immekus captures the reality that surrounds her, sometimes melancholy, sometimes cheerful, always appreciative and from surprising angles.

An exhibition in cooperation with the Kunsthalle Darmstadt (March 17 - June 30, 2024).
