Kindertheater vom Duo Kačenka

"The Pearl Oyster or Jiřík's Wondrous Journey"

A traveler who stops at a seemingly normal café finds a book left at his table. As he begins to read it, everything around him changes. And suddenly he finds himself in the middle of a fantastic story ...

The duo Kačenka presents the children's theater "The Pearl Oyster or Jiřík's Wondrous Journey", a musical-scenic reading based on a Moravian fairy tale about the wondrous journey of Jiřík. The play was developed in collaboration with set designer, prop maker and puppet maker Melanie Kuhl

Duo Kačenka - that's Kristina Schönbeck (vocals) and Katharina Hoffmann (piano). The story is read by Simon Elias and performed by Duo Kačenka with songs from the collections by Leoš Janáček and Bohuslav Martinů. The Czech writer Radek Malý rewrote the lyrics of the songs to suit the story.

After the performance, the performers invite the children (and adults too, of course) to talk to them, ask questions and share their experiences. It is also possible to take a look behind the scenes. There you can try out the props and puppets for yourself!
