US multi-instrumentalist Kishi Bashi is coming back to Germany for an exclusive show in 2025 as part of his Kantos Tour. On June 26, 2025, he will perform at the Brotfabrik Frankfurt and present his new album Kantos.

Kishi Bashi is the pseudonym of violinist, singer and composer Kaoru Ishibashi, who has already worked with Regina Spektor, Sondre Lerche and of Montreal. Since his highly acclaimed debut album 151a (2012), he has established himself as one of the most innovative artists on the modern indie and orchestral pop scene. With albums such as Lighght (2014), Sonderlust (2016) and Omoiyari (2019), he has consistently developed and refined his unique style.

The album Kantos, released in August 2024, is Kishi Bashi's first studio release in five years and combines an impressive blend of orchestral rock, Brazilian jazz, 70s funk and city pop. Tackling themes such as humanity, technology and the future of art, the work offers an unparalleled listening experience. The first single Colorful State gives a first impression of the expanded sound and has already been released with a self-directed video. "Colorful State is a celebration of the complexity of our human condition - the eternal tension between euphoria and uncertainty. This song is a warm embrace of this constant change and a reminder that every sunset is followed by a new sunrise," explains Kaoru Ishibashi, known as Kishi Bashi. Kantos was produced by Kishi Bashi himself and mixed by Tucan (Hot Chip, Jungle, Aluna). It was recorded at Chase Park Transduction Studios with longtime collaborators Drew Vandenberg (Faye Webster, of Montreal, Toro y Moi) and other guest musicians including Zorina Andall (vocals), Augie Bello (saxophone) and activist and rapper Linqua Franqa.

Known for his cinematic soundscapes combining classical strings, electronic pop and experimental arrangements, Kishi Bashi's captivating live performances are characterized by orchestral virtuosity and dynamic energy. His sound combines playful melodies with profound, philosophical concepts, creating an incomparable musical experience.
