Achim Erz is the antithesis to the omnipresent entertainment sprinkling. He sets himself apart from the poets of consternation who explain life. Achim Erz places neither music nor text in the foreground. He prefers equal treatment without drifting into boring uniformity. It is the omnipresent question of being, of becoming, of who I am. With Achim Erz, the philosophical question becomes a self-explanation. His answer: "Presumably, this is really me" shows us that someone is expressing his passion without being egotistical.
His texts are never unambiguous and do not show "the way". Others have already done that. He wants to set himself apart without marginalizing. To inspire people with his music without imposing himself. If you ask him where he comes from, we hear music that draws on influences from Prefab Sprout, Divine Comedy and Ben Folds.
The drummer and songwriter
He is a drummer with Bernd Begemann and Befreiung. But a few years ago he realized that his desire to "sit at the back and still make noise" can also work the other way around. That is exciting and good.
Achim Erz writes music that will find it difficult to assert itself in the hustle and bustle of mainstream and format radio. His passion for ravishingly beautiful harmonies can be found in his pieces, as can the catchy melodies. But what sounds so simple is deliberately complex and therefore so beautiful.
His songs are meant to be heard. They explore the question that Achim Erz asks himself right at the beginning: the "turning" around oneself and everything. But without explaining. Because others have already done that.
