When the world rages outside, what happens inside us?
"Kopf im Sand" deals with current political developments in Germany and Europe. With the rise of right-wing populism and the regression to nation-state structures as a reaction to the increasing number of refugees seeking protection. Helpless, sometimes powerless, we are faced with this seemingly unsolvable question and are also confronted with other crises: Climate change, poverty, isolation in society etc...

Sometimes our fears are so great that they tempt us to look away, withdraw and isolate ourselves. Fear has become a defining constant in Western society. It is based on the - perceived or real - increasing loss of control over one's own life and future.

The philosopher Kierkegaard recommended that people face up to fear, because "this is an adventure that every human being has to go through: That he learn to be afraid."
The dancer Johannes Walter transforms this state of tension into choreographies, examines inner and outer fear patterns and reflexes, tries to free himself from them and also takes a humorous look at them.
