Kurzfilmprogramm „Kalk im Film“

In the organizer's words:

Kalk has been an important and up-and-coming industrial location on the outskirts of Cologne since the middle of the 19th century. In addition to Chemische Fabrik Kalk CFK, the Hagen battery factory produced here until 1983 and Klöckner Humboldt Deutz KHD also had a large production facility here. The after-effects of this period were evident for many years in the form of chemical industrial waste and contaminated soil, accompanied by protests from local residents and citizens' initiatives.

In the short film program, we show reports from the WDR archive and shed light on the history of the Kalkberg. In the documentary "Kassieren" ,we go in search of archive material on the Kalk chemical plant. Finally, a cinematic city tour takes us from the Kalker Stadtgarten to the traditional Sünner brewery.
