Through time and space with the eyes of a photographer. Leipzig in the 90s in pictures by Siegfried G. Müller

Siegfried G. Müller hardly missed a horse race since 1950. That's why his nickname in Scheibenholz was short and snappy: Rennbahnmüller. He not only captured the events surrounding equestrian sport on countless films in black and white. There was hardly a prominent book fair visitor who was not portrayed by Siegfried Müller - from Günter Grass to Isabel Allende. He worked as a photographer for various newspapers and magazines until the fall of communism. In the 1990s, he began documenting the city of Leipzig as a freelance photographer. He documented architectural changes or simply looked at the people of the time. After his death in 2023, the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum received his estate, an incredibly large number of negatives and photos. As part of the exhibition, we have now searched this cultural wealth specifically for the photos from the 1990s and are now presenting part of the Leipzig photographer's enormous legacy for the first time.
