Linda leads a picture-book life. Her work as a curator for an art foundation fulfills her, she is married to the painter Richard, they have a daughter together, Sonja, and live in a spacious apartment in an old building in Leipzig. They are successful, well-off, happy and guileless. But in a few seconds of carelessness, fate takes everything from Linda: the life of her 17-year-old daughter, who is run over by a truck, her own health, her sleep. The grief is overwhelming and bottomless. But they exist, the fine threads that hold Linda in the world. There is a house and a farm in no man's land that offer her refuge and require her to take action after action, there is the joy of being able to read again, the jagged edges of a rich orange tulip, the warmth of the spring sun, there is the dog Kaja.
