One of the wittiest and most astute American essayists - Alex Cocotas - on a double bill with a critically acclaimed voice of Russian poetry: Anna Glazova. After short live interviews with the two writers, we will hear from their work, both in original sound and in translation.

Anna Glazova is a poet, translator and independent scholar. She has published six volumes of poetry in Russian, and her collection "For a Stranger" was awarded the Andrey Bely Prize - one of the most prestigious prizes for Russian poetry. Alex Niemi's English translation of the same book was awarded the 2023 Heldt Prize for Best Translation and the 2023 AATSEEL Prize for Best Poetry Translation into English. Glazova holds a PhD in German and Comparative Literature from Northwestern University (USA) with a thesis on Paul Celan and Osip Mandelstam. She translates from both German and English; translated authors include Paul Celan, Franz Kafka, Unica Zürn, Walter Benjamin and Emily Dickinson.
Alex Cocotas is a writer, photographer and translator living in Berlin. Originally from California, he has published in The Guardian, The Baffler and The Paris Review, among others. He was awarded a Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting fellowship for two articles on abortion rights in Poland. He recently completed his second novel.
