Mareike Krügel presents her new novel "Alle wissen hier alles" about guilt, slander, courage and friendship

"Alle wissen hier alles" is not an idyllic village novel, but a novel that sheds light on village coexistence in an exciting and sometimes shocking way, traces the conflict between the sexes and tells the story of two women whose lives are caught between the poles of autonomy and dependence. Mareike Krügel is able to bring out the comic side of this theme in her usual inimitably subtle way.

Mareike Krügel's new novel is set in the fictional village of Niewohld, where everyone knows everyone else and there seem to be no secrets. However, it soon becomes clear that the villagers only know what they want to know. When Kasia and her daughter flee from her violent husband to single mother Martina, the two mothers are soon caught in a crossfire of rumors and slander. Neither the nursery school teachers nor Martina's ex-partner Carsten want to show any understanding for the situation of the two women. Although the relationship between Martina and Carsten is not as catastrophic as that between Kasia and Dieter, it is also full of abysses and misunderstandings.

The author was born in Kiel in 1977, studied at the Literature Institute in Leipzig and was awarded the Hebbel Prize in 2006. Her latest novels have been bestsellers. She lives with her family in Schleswig-Holstein.
