The magical Alea Aquarius book series - written by Spiegel bestselling author Tanya Stewner - is aimed at children aged 10 and over who are interested in environmental protection and dream of adventures, wonderful friendships and their first great love.

The Alea Aquarius books take readers into the magical world of Alea, a 12-year-old girl who has been drawn to the sea for as long as she can remember. But the sea is also a dangerous place, because any contact with water can be fatal for Alea. Those were her mother's last words before she disappeared. In an accident during a storm, Alea falls into the water and discovers that she can survive and even breathe underwater. She finds out that she is a sea girl.
The book series follows Alea and her best friends from the Alpha Cru, a gang of children and teenagers who sail the seas and earn their money with music. The gang was founded by 18-year-old Ben and his 9-year-old brother Sammy. It also consists of the protective Lennox, the courageous Tess and the sensitive Alea. The five of them travel together on their sailing ship, the Crucis, and experience new and exciting adventures in each book.
While Alea tries to find out more about her past and what her origins mean for her future, she and her four friends are constantly faced with numerous challenges. They fight to protect the oceans and against those who are destroying the environment. The members of Alpha Cru are role models for a diverse, tolerant and sustainable society. They stand for courage, friendship and solidarity and create a real sense of togetherness on the Crucis.

The stories are characterized by the unique combination of a romantic and magical adventure story with the central theme of environmental protection. The series thus contains exactly the current social issues that move young generations and brings them further into the consciousness of young readers.
