LOVE
A SHORT FILM PROGRAM OF THE FILM SERIES COLOGNE
Wednesday, December 11, 2024, 7 pm, Lichtspiele Kalk
Even the greatest love story is about more than love: we are devoting ourselves to a state of mind that is universal on the one hand, but subject to many social and cultural influences on the other. Love drives us to extremes, it gives us hope, it enchants us, it holds our world together or tears it apart. The 12 short films, music videos and media-artistic positions tell of the crackle and excitement when love begins, to the pain when it is not fulfilled. They question our view of romantic love, open up new living spaces, reflect on experiences with a feminist perspective or simply celebrate belonging. Passionate embraces, breathy declarations of love or wedding dreams meet the search for identity and family cohesion. However, the stories do not leave out the grinding nature of everyday life and the disillusionment with relationship structures and social constraints. What factors determine what we feel? Why is the pain of love not just an individual problem? Why is love political?
