Literature club: Between the borders with Jazra Khaleed and Leon Skottnik

"Poetry soaked in gasoline" is how one could describe the texts of Greek performance artist Jazra Khaleed, who will read from his long poem Requiem for Homs, among others. Leon Skottnik from Cologne will read prose and poetry on the visual arts, in which art objects are created as mental images and works by contemporary artists provide impulses for new literature. Jazra Khaleed (pseudonym) is a poet, translator, performer and filmmaker. He lives in Athens and writes exclusively in Greek. His works are an indictment of fascism, social injustice, police brutality and racism in Greece today. His German publications include Die Hoffnung hat immer einen Plan B (Moloko Print 2023) and Requiem für Homs (parasitenpresse 2022). He is also the editor of the Athens poetry magazine Teflon.

Leon Skottnik (*1988 in the Ruhr area) studied interdisciplinary studies at various European universities. He received his doctorate from Maastricht University and worked as a neuroscientist, among other things on brain-computer interfaces and the use of mental images in modern psychiatry. He writes prose, poetry and technical texts, and also produces audiovisual extensions of literature. His literary works have been published in magazines such as Lichtungen, Das Narr and Signum. Most recently, the long poem Ein symphonischer Text was published in book form by Hochroth Verlag.
