No false modesty: Paramount in English means the top, the highest. In fact, the Paramount Quartet brings together two top soloists from two generations of jazz, Joe Lovano and Julian Lage, who have known each other for a long time and are likely to spur each other on to improvisational flights of fancy. Their accompanists Will Calhoun and Asante Santi Debriano throw impulses and ideas at them every second.
