Love reacts only – rothko string quartet

The choice of name says it all: the Rothko String Quartet is reminiscent of the great abstract painter Mark Rothko and thus signals its openness towards neighboring arts. The new program is inspired by literature and the toxic love between two literary greats, marked by jealousy and conflict. Two years ago, the spectacular correspondence between Ingeborg Bachmann and Max Frisch was published and gave the Rothko String Quartet the impetus for a new concert project in which love takes center stage. The quartet finds musical answers to seven poignant letters by Bachmann - not least with Leoš Janáček's second string quartet "Intimate Letters".
