Mandu are Korean dumplings with a filling of minced meat and vegetables, similar to Maultaschen. However, both the filling and the wrapping are very different from those of German Maultaschen. In Korea, mandu with a kimchi filling is also very popular.
In addition to the different fillings and shapes, there are also different ways of preparing them. They can be boiled, steamed or fried.
Fried mandu are often served with soy sauce as an appetizer in Korean restaurants. Mandu are also served in soups (manduguk) or used as an ingredient in stews (jeongol).
