With a lot of verve, humor and song, four actors guide you through 16 Grimm fairy tales and invite you to take a fresh look at them!

In "Märchenstückchen" , four young people stumble through sixteen fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. The play, created as part of an NRW scholarship by the artists' collective "Gedankensprung", deals with the brutality and absurdity of these fairy tales in equal measure. The minimalist stage design concept, consisting of a suitcase, is intended to potentially turn any location into a stage. The artists act as narrators and commentators, taking turns in quick succession in the roles that appear. The audience is entertained in a fast-paced and witty manner and at the same time invited to question the fairy tales from today's perspective: Why is the stepmother always evil? Why are princes always looking for a bride? And why do they always have to get married straight away, even though they have only known each other for five minutes? The whole thing is accompanied by polyphonic folk songs sung a capella and original compositions by playwright Judith "Meta" Loeffen. Why does no one actually find it questionable that the prince sees Snow White's corpse and wants to buy it? Why are women almost always the villains? Between dance interludes and heated discussions, the four professional actors themselves repeatedly come up against the problems of these very stories, which are full of sexism, gleeful brutality and absurd non-sense - but always with a wink.
