What your French teacher didn't teach you. France without clichés! Cabaret with songs and surprises. "Prevented Francophilia" - that's what Markus Sauer calls one of his life's themes, and he sings about and plays with it in his new program "Marianne et Je". What fascinates him about his western neighbor, her beauty, her contradictions, how he tries to win her over... and fails again and again - in linguistic, culinary, erotic... but never musically! An evening of autobiographical and invented encounters and stories, songs, poetry, language games - a very chaleureuse declaration of love to France, which - even in the fading laughter - will once again remain unrequited.

• Do you have to understand French well for it to be understandable and funny?
  Definitely not. Markus Sauer barely speaks the language himself.

• Will I be able to lean back, bourgois-satisfied, in old-fashioned French clichés?
• No, désolé. It's an evening with lots of music and emotion, but without berets and baguettes.
