With his various vintage keyboards and on the grand piano as MD for the Brazilian soul superstar Ed Motta or with his band Mo' Blow, Matti Klein has earned himself a reputation as one of the most interesting young groove jazz musicians on the German scene, guesting at renowned clubs such as Ronnie Scott's London, Blue Note Tokyo, Highline Ballroom NYC, as well as international festivals such as Pori Jazz, Jazz in Marciac and the Leverkusener Jazztage and sharing the stage and studio with stars such as Nils Landgren, Jimmy Somerville, David T. Walker, Sarah Connor and Herbert Grönemeyer. "The soulful jazz mixture that keyboardist Matti Klein serves up with Lars Zander on saxophone and bass clarinet and drummer André Seidel, his partner from his "Mo' Blow" days, has addictive potential. As a trio, the three musicians create a sound that sounds like much more than a trio. Groove master Klein himself provides the perfect dose of bass on the keys. With his left hand, he plays a Rhodes bass piano of his own construction and produces a full, warm and round sound that has it all. (...)
