We offer you a double treat: the author and cookery lecturer Hans Montag reads from his new novel "Mein Leben in einer verlorenen Zeit" (My life in a lost time). It tells the story of a woman from Giesing between 1924 and 1947.

Remembering is painful, this is the conclusion of the narrator Franziska. She is always scarred, whether by the loss of her Jewish friend Judith in the horrors of the Nazi era or when the Gestapo took her father, the communist agitator, to Dachau concentration camp. Even the death of her mother mercilessly reveals the sins of the past. Her love for Charles, the colored GI, is also full of ups and downs. In the book, Franziska's fictional story is interwoven with historical events from Giesing and Munich.

Between the 15-minute readings, a menu is served that matches the book.

Vita Hans Montag:

On December 11, 1941, Hans Montag was born in the far west of Thuringia in the immediate vicinity of what would later become the inner-German border. Before the Iron Curtain became insurmountable, his mother fled with him to Hesse in 1953. After school and training, he founded a fashion agency in Munich, which he ran until 2022. In 1967, he married Sigrid and had three children.

After selling his company, he devoted himself more intensively to his passions of writing and cooking. Since 2008, he has been giving cooking courses at various adult education centers in the Munich area and has published seven books.
