Miki Yui was born in Tokyo and has lived in Düsseldorf since 1994. The roots of the multidisciplinary artist and composer lie in the visual arts. It is therefore not surprising that her work blurs the boundaries between music, performance and installation.

Yui explores the gray area of our perception and imagination, creating poetic (sound) works.

Since her first album "small sounds" in 1999, she has been known for her unique minimalist and organic approach to music. She weaves sounds from synthesizers, samplers and field recordings into an intensely sensual, almost haptic listening experience. In this way, Yui reveals the beauty of emptiness, the phenomenon of coexistence and resonance.

"Miki Yui's creations mimic the structures of nature, and they go far beyond the attempt. They succeed where others fail," says Detlef Weinrich (Tolouse Lowtrax).

At Schleuse Zwei, the exceptional artist will present her 8th solo album "AS IF", released in September 2024 on the Hallow Ground label.
