Three generations of women on a Swabian farm in summer: they go swimming every day, munch on tomatoes, fantasize about the future - and castrate llamas, of course. Justine Bauer's astonishing debut film is a meditation on modern agriculture, femininity and motherhood. The hypnotically still images are wonderfully complemented by the dry-as-dust dialog in Swabian dialects. Somewhere between rural realism and Samuel Beckett and yet unconditionally original.
