Fancy an evening of musical surprises and classics from the last few centuries? Then you should make a note of the concert dates of the Munich Chamber Orchestra, or MKO for short, in your calendar.
The MKO is world-famous and highly regarded for its magnificent concert programs. Eight times a season, the orchestra presents its concert series in Munich's most beautiful concert hall, the Prinzregententheater. The concert series has a different motto each season, which links the diverse and exciting programs together. With great openness and curiosity, a high degree of stylistic variability and an excellent level of interpretation, the MKO combines music from earlier centuries with contemporary works in an exciting way.

12.12.2024 - 3rd subscription concert - singer Sarah Maria Sun, conductor Bas Wiegers and the MKO - music by Anton Webern, H.I.F. Biber, Enno Poppe and a world premiere by Alban Berg

How many faces the night has! There is the beguiling darkness of the soul inherent in Enno Poppe's song cycle "Eyes" based on poems by Else Lasker-Schüler. The 25 miniatures - the shortest just eight seconds long, and yet each a whole world of love and pain in itself - are brought to life by dedicatee Sarah Maria Sun. Later, the soprano slips into the role of the man-killing femme fatale in Alban Berg's 'Lulu Suite' and leads the MKO deep into the lust and horror of the night. Anton Webern's 'Langsamer Satz' for string quartet is late-romantic and wistful, yet points to the future. What a contrast to the string serenade by Salzburg court conductor Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber - cheerful evening entertainment music in which the night watchman's song 'Hört, ihr Herren, lasst euch sagen' is also sung.

22.5.2025 - 7th subscription concert - singer Julian Prégardien, horn player Franz Draxinger, conductor Bas Wiegers and the MKO - music by Benjamin Britten, Arnold Schönberg, Johannes Maria Staud and Mirela Ivicevic

26.6.2025 - 8th subscription concert - Singer Christina Landshamer, conductor Enrico Onofri and the MKO - Music by Beethoven, Schubert, Per Norgard and Luigi Boccherini
