Does a string quartet always have to consist of two violins, a viola and a cello? Not necessarily! The combination of four violins was already appreciated in the Baroque era. Numerous composers, including Georg Philipp Telemann, contributed several sophisticated concertos to the genre. To this day, composers continue to draw on this delightful tradition of composing "senza basso". Once again, KAP violinist Thomas Kretschmer has put together a varied program with music from four centuries, from baroque music to romantic classics to jazz, whereby he has arranged Arcangelo Corelli's "La Follia" variations for this beautiful instrumentation himself.
